UofL Hospital offers free training for national Stop the Bleed Day
01/30/2018

March 31 is National Stop the Bleed Day. On Monday, March 26, from 6 - 7:30 p.m. UofL Hospital will offer a free day of training to anyone who is interested in knowing how to save lives.

The top cause of preventable death in trauma is bleeding. Twenty percent of people who have died from traumatic injuries could have survived with quick bleeding control.

The Stop the Bleed training consists of a 30-45 minute lecture followed by 30-45 minutes of skill-out stations. The lecture is led by a trauma surgeon or trauma nurse practitioner.  The skill-out stations provide an opportunity to practice the techniques taught in the lecture and include practice with tourniquet placement and practice compressing a simulated bleeding wound.

To reserve your spot for this life saving training, e-mail Annabelle Pike at annpike@ulh.org. Learn more about Stop the Bleed by visiting their webpage.
