Rehabilitation ServicesPhysical therapy is a primary care specialty in health care that maximizes movement and function for people who have either a permanent or temporary loss of mobility. Physical therapists help to improve patients' quality of life by working to decrease pain while restoring strength and function. In outpatient physical therapy we strive to return our clients to their ideal performance. Our therapists are specialty trained in many areas and will evaluate the patient to find any issue they may have then create a comprehensive individualized treatment program to return them to their previous function. Physical therapy is also used to prevent injuries by teaching people how to move to limit stress and reduce injury to their body.

Our team of physical therapists take the time to engage the client to find out how to progress and motivate them along the best path to recovery and function. We utilize a team approach with our patients having them work closely with our therapists, therapist assistants and technicians.

If your doctor recommends physical therapy after an injury or surgery to help you recover, you should know that the Physical Therapy Division at UofL Hospital is here to offer comprehensive rehabilitation services by a highly qualified team of physical therapists with specialized board-certifications and/or doctoral-level degrees. We have therapists who specialize in orthopedic injuries, back pain, movement disorders, vestibular problems, women’s health, lymphedema, wound care, dry needling shoulder injuries, total joint replacements, osteoarthritis, foot and ankle issue and gait and balance issues.
